MARSHALL - Services for Benton L. Ratcliff, 76, of Marshall will be
held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Austin Street Chapel of Sullivan
Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Segers officiating. Burial will be in
Algoma Cemetery North. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral
home. Mr. Ratcliff died Saturday. He was born March 25, 1927, in
Marshall.

MONTEREY, La. — Services for Joe Lewis “Jay” Ratcliff, of Monterey, who died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Eva Church of God with the Rev. Marion Trisler Jr., Rev. Kevin Simms, Rev. Lloyd Trisler and Brother Joe Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home Ferriday.

Mr. Ratcliff was born Aug. 25, 1914, in Olla, La., the son of Billy Ratcliff and Annie Ratcliff Steele. He was a member of Jonesville Church of God for 35 years and served as adult Sunday school teacher and church deacon. He was also a member and helped in the original construction of the Eva Church of God. He retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development with 21 years of service. He was a commercial fisherman for 60 plus years. Mr. Ratcliff was also a veteran of the Armed Forces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carlos Ratcliff, Durham Steele and Jackie Steele and a sister, Alyne Steele Pickett.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mable Crouch Ratcliff; a son, Billy Joe Ratcliff and wife Carolyn of Monterey; a daughter, Sheila Ratcliff Paul and husband Pervon of Monterey; grandchildren, Annie Ratcliff Sance and husband Glen of Holden, La., Jennie Ratcliff Rogers and husband Tim of Lettsworth, La., Rebecca Ratcliff Simmons and husband Ralph of Pollock, La., Jan Paul Morris and husband Marcus of Monterey and Jessie Paul of Monterey; great-grandchildren, Britt and Austin Overton of Holden and Hanah Sance of Holden; two brothers, Henry “Hans” Ratcliff and Frank “Bud” Ratcliff both of Kirbyville, Texas; a sister, Doris Steele Osburn and husband Frank of Kirbyville, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Gene Story Crouch, Eddie Wayne Poole, Brunston Crouch, James White, Gerald Ratcliff, Dave Fancher, Johnny McKey and Ralph Simmons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Overton, Britt Overton, Tim Rogers, Glenn Sance, Jack “Pug” Aswell, James Miller Crouch, Leroy Paul, Tommy “Red” Tiffee, Diane Fancher and Marcus Morris Jr.

Mr. Willie Ratcliff of Cleburne died July 19 in the Vererans Administration
Hospital in Dallas

Mr. Ratcliff was born Feb. 15, 1918, near Augusta.

Funeral services were held at Cleburne, with the Rev. Ben Loring of Dallas
and the Rev. Charles Taylor of Cleborne officiating. Graveside ceremonies
were conducted by American Legion Post No. 50 of Cleburne. Burial was in
Rosehill Memorial park in Cleburne.

Survivors include the wife Mrs. Doris Ratcliff, and two sons, Lanney and
Danney, all of Cleburne; a brother, Lester Glen, of Houston; three sisters.
Mrs. Sam Huffaker and Mrs. Fred Johnson, both of Houston, and Mrs. J. A.
Riley of Bay City.

MRS. RATCLIFF DIES AT JASPER
Rites for Native of Warren Will Be Held in Methodist Church

JASPER, June 18 (Spl)--Funeral services for
Mrs. Carrie Parker Ratcliff
, 83, of Jasper will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the First Methodist Church. The Rev. Clyde Woodard, the pastor will officiate assisted by the Rev. T.J. Moore, a former pastor. Burial will be in City Cemetery under the direction of Stringer Funeral Home of Jasper.

Pallbearers will be Allen Hancock, Fred Blake, Olaf Jacobsen, Robert Hancock, W.A. Ryall, J.A. Fox, Robert Martin and W.L. Neal. The body will lie in state at the Church from 2 until 3 pm. Sunday.

Mrs. Ratcliff died at 10:30 p.m. Friday in a local hospital following an injury suffered when she fell at her home late Tuesday.

She was the wife of the late Dr. J.R. Ratcliff who was one of the early dentists of this area.

A native of Warren she had lived in Jasper for more than 60 years. She had been a member of the Methodist Church here for many years.

Mrs. Ratcliff was active in all church and civic affairs until a few months ago. She was a charter member of the Women's Civic Club of Jasper.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Blanch Jeffrey of Houston and Mrs. Helen McKain of Huntsville; one son, J.M. Ratcliff of Midland; two brothers, Charles Parker of Jasper and Eugene Parker of Silsbee; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

James R. Ratcliff, a native of Dallas and resident of Mobile, died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 71.

Ratcliff was a retired aviation electrician.

Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Potts of Mobile, and two sons, Dennis Rodgers of Warner-Robbins, Ga., and Bruce Rodgers of Frisco, Texas.

Services are planned for a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Ascension Funeral Service on Hillcrest Road.
